Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Lui!

Attended Carol's tie-the-knot party at Xi Yan, a fine dining restaurant by a Hong Kong celebrity chef. I totally love.. the food! The bride was dressed in undergarments! Corset and ken ken.. so cute! Oh.. and wedding favors were coke bottles with their name on the labels. Sheryln and Me have become the endorsers.. dun believe check out carol's wedding webby!

Many a times, i would leave the wedding dinner feeling hungry as I'm kinda sick of the same dishes served at weddings. But this time round I left feeling full! I was captivated by the dishes served as they were totally different.

The meal started with chicken soup with gingko and beancurd skin. It is actually a broth that is made with chicken, gingko and beancurd. the gingko and beancurd have been cooked till its melted and blends with the goodness from the juices of the chicken. A wonderful appetizer as its light on the tummy.

Next up is their house speciality. Green house tomato with wasabi sesame sauce. the tomatoes are huge and are specially imported from Japan. Slurp...

Abalones are next. They're one of my favourite food, i think.. kekekeke.. its a tradition for me to have it every cny and in weddings. The abalones served at Xi Yan were on some sea shells that both Sherlyn and I kept as souvenirs. I think we're the only guest who did that but its ok.. we're the only ang kong kias there anyway!

The next 3 dishes that follows are my favourite good. Maybe that is why i ate every dish of the party! Peppercorn prawns (which is not at all spicy), Cherry pork (which is basically like dong po rou... Loads of collagen) and Salted eggs toufu... Yummyy!!! One of these days i will try to make the salted egg toufu for my family to try.. seems achievable and it tasted really good!

Fried rice with chinese ham and black truffle was so so... I always feel fried rice all taste the same other than salted fish fried rice which will taste much more saltish. The fish in shrimp paste on pomegranate salad was unique. The fish was coated with shrimp paste before deep-frying. Pomegranate salad helps take away the oily feeling of the fish.. thoroughly refreshing!

By the time the Lotus leaf chicken with salted vege came, i was really really full. Gave it a miss..

Oh... Sherlyn was really excited over the dessert! We were served water chestnut sorbet with bird's nest shooters. The sorbet was yumming with crunchy chestnut in them.

The party being a lunch, gave us the rest of the Sunday to laze about at Vivo... we basically catch up/bitched at pacific coffee... Ahhhh what a lovely sunday...
