Button's Grooming at Nex!

The doggie cafe that we always wanted to bring Button to but my mum refused. Reason being she feels its dirty. We're spending some time here as Mr Button's done with the obstacle course (check out vid at the bottom) and the groomer is still not free.
Does he seem distracted to you?

Still not looking at the camera and also refusing to get down to the floor..

Because of this! Many many dogs running about! Maltese, Shih Tzus, Poodles.. You name it, they're there!

Finally a decent picture!

And there he is, grinning at us through the glass while having his grooming. He's very happy that the groomer's a pretty young chick!

My quiche at Swiss bakery while waiting for him to be done.

Ro's sandwich.

My hot chocolate. A nice place to sit and relax and chat while waiting for Mr Button.

Cheese muffin as a reward for Mr Button for being such a good boy! Check out how smart he is in the vid below!

~ Our Valentines Celebration ~

Back to Holiday Inn Batam we go.. The last was 2 years ago? Empty seats compared to the previous round. Probably cause its late in the afternoon.

Again we got upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite.

And as usual, we closed one up.

Love how it feels like home.

This time round, our balcony's facing the spa/garden area!

Same old pool but this time round we didn't swim..Many ang mos and their gfs around though..

Prayers before breaksfast.. LOL!

Breakfast followed by Spa and a short nap before departing for Singapore the next day..

Mr Rowan was singing some songs before we have lunch at Dian Xiao Er..

Me? That's the marks he score out of 5..

Our favourite pork belly.. It has shrunk! I swear!

Spinach for good health..

And here's Wenzi with Little Dragon Slayer (Gareth)! It's his full month and the whole of TPY was celebrating for him! I love him!

~ CNY Day 2 ~

Our usual routine of going to my grandma's house on day 2 of Chinese New Year.. The yearly exchange of ang baos one of the must! Let's start counting.. 1) Ang bao exchanges..

2) My aunt's home made Yu Shen! Yes! Absolutely home made with NO colorings.. the best and only Yu Shen I take.. just the vege shreddar cost her a few hundred bucks.. So's the huge plate!

Peanuts toasted by her! Only the crispy chips are bought.. OH, and the cans of abalone.. LOL!

Huge Yushen for 20pax.. That's how messy the tabel is.. Believe me when I say there's some that landed on the floor.. Button's safe in my arms..

4) Food! Used to be steamboat but this year, it has been replaced with takeouts from the restuarant.. Cold dish, Peng Cai, Sharks fin, Lotus rice, Steam fish and dessert.. Everyone's raving at how good it taste.. I didnt try any.. why?

5) Cause I prefer my granny's cooking! My favourite vege soup (not shown) with quails egg, hainanese chup choy and braised pork belly.. I'll put all into a huge bowl with rice and stir with the soup.. Yummy yummy!

6) A very happy boy who has all the attention of 20 peeps.. LOL!

7) Mah jong for the adults and Games for the kids.. Uno stacko, twister, Wii etc.. You name it, you play it!

Happy New Year!

My First Reunion Dinner with In-Laws

Say Say Teochew Restaurant, the very first reunion dinner in my life that I'm having not at anyone's home but outside in a restaurant. My FIL had a hard time securing places for dinner as almost everywhere's booked since a month ago.

Simple chinese style restaurant but apparently packed to the brim.

Families of differing sizes make up the customer group. There are 2 rounds for tonight's dinner and we're the 2nd round group.

That's the only CNY decoration in the restaurant that I can tell.

This is the starter. No offence but I guess teochew dishes are not to my liking. Either this restaurant has done it too coarsely and ruins my impression or it is always like this. Not too sure but I know, Century egg to me is a Huge no no!

The famous Pen Cai, prosperity bowl. I sincerely prefer the cantonese way of doing it. This is seriously not done in the right way. The sauce is super oily and thin like soup and the ingredients sub-standard.

Served in a pail like this, I have absolutely no comments..

Nothing beats Hainanese Chicken and hence, I will not comment on this except for it being much too saltish for my liking.

We almost ended up leaving without paying for the meal as they had told my FIL that there is no yu shen left. After his threats, they miraculously produced one for us. After all, it is part of the package menu and we would have gone for some other dinner if they had informed us way ahead and not only when the dish is supposed to be served. An unforgettable first reunion dinner I must say. LOL!

Not to mention free fireworks performance right at our porch step! This is the only aspect that I love about JB. No need to drive out to Sheares Bridge for our annual CNY fireworks. Kekekeke..

Here's our family photo on the 1st day of CNY at Por Por's house. We're the red and pink family. LOL!
